Jared began formal martial arts training in the early 2000s under Jason David Frank at Rising Sun Karate Academy, where he studied for six years. He was awarded the 4th Kyu brown belt in 2004. He describes his coaching as adaptive and practical, shaped by the Jeet Kune Do idea of adjusting technique to the individual instead of following a rigid, forms-based curriculum.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from East Stroudsburg University and has practiced as an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer for 14 years. He also reports current CPR/AED certification from the American Heart Association, Modern Army Combatives Program Level 1 training and an Army Achievement Medal during National Guard service. He was recognized as a youth martial arts tournament champion in 2004.
His online coaching focuses on striking, kicking, blocks, parries, stances and footwork alongside cardio, strength, mobility, flexibility, breathing and recovery-based stretching. He does not offer grappling, throws, takedowns, sparring or forms-based instruction online.
Jared uses Google Meet primarily and can use Zoom on request. His setup includes a full-body camera, microphone, dedicated training space, reliable internet and phone backup. He coaches in English; basic Spanish, minimal Portuguese, demonstration and nonverbal cues may help communication with some trainees.

Read Jared’s Full Guide Philosophy
A great online martial arts guide demonstrates key movements clearly and reads both verbal and non-verbal feedback — including facial expressions and subtle movement cues — to ensure trainees are benefiting and participating properly. Passion is central to effective guidance, because it inspires trainees to take their practice seriously and do the work. At the same time, I recognize that guides have limits — I can lead, demonstrate, and encourage, but ultimately it is the trainee’s own effort and commitment that drives their progress. Online observation requires intuition and adaptability, supported by natural conversation, direct communication, and a fun atmosphere.
In group sessions and workshops, I maintain a similar approach but shift to a dynamic rhythm, moving between trainees and offering quick, targeted input to each to make sure everyone is seen and supported. A good online dojo is only as effective as the energy and passion its coaches bring — trainees need engaging, fun, and re-energizing sessions, not passionless instruction. Trainers should be diverse and flexible, adjusting their approach to meet individual client needs. Online Dojo Workout should actively match trainees with guides based on the trainee’s goals, experience level, and the style or discipline they want to develop. I believe in being honest about the limits of my own background — as a striking and kickboxing-based coach, I may not be the right fit for a trainee seeking grappling or traditional kata instruction.
The dojo and its guides should function like an umbrella and its rungs — interdependent and collaborative — because that unity is what most benefits the trainee. A constructive trainee partner takes time to understand their training partner’s strengths and areas for improvement, moving through exercises with awareness and intention. Trainees should be inquisitive and curious, willing to ask questions and try new things. I encourage that participation by opening every session with a brief introduction that sets an inclusive tone, and by pausing during sessions to actively invite engagement from trainees who may be hesitant or new to online training.
Prepare for Your Session
1. Clear a safe movement area and position the camera so Jared can see your full body and footwork.
2. Share your goals, experience, equipment and any movements you would like adapted before starting.
3. For a youth session, have a parent or guardian participate in arranging the engagement and follow the dojo’s safeguards.
Online observation has limits. Stop an activity if it causes pain or feels unsafe, and seek appropriate professional advice for concerns beyond coaching.

Tell us what you want to work on and request Jared using ODW-G1006. You may name up to five preferred guides. For a trainee aged 10–15, a parent or guardian should make the inquiry.
Submitting a request begins a matching conversation. Scheduling and the final engagement depend on availability, service fit, required safeguards and Jared’s independent acceptance.
